Technical Reporting Manager
Job Description
Nor-Alta Environmental Services Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Reporting Manager to manage our reporting department. The Technical Reporting Manager will oversee the preparation, review, and completion of environmental reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in reclamation and remediation report preparation within Alberta and British Columbia, and will play a key role in mentoring junior staff and maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the environmental reporting department, including assigning reports and managing workload distribution.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to monitor timelines and ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Prepare and review a variety of environmental reports (Phase I/Stage I, Phase II/Stage II, and Detailed Site Assessments, etc.)
- Complete and submit regulatory forms and documentation as required.
- Provide training, mentorship, and technical writing guidance to junior and intermediate staff.
- Develop and refine internal reporting processes, templates, and quality control systems.
- Support project coordination and documentation as needed.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, earth sciences, biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in technical report writing related to reclamation and remediation in Alberta and British Columbia. Experience in Saskatchewan considered an asset.
- Experience with drilling waste and planning reporting is considered an asset.
- Eligibility for or membership with a professional organization (AIA, ASPB, APEGA, etc.) is required.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with data and reporting tools.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable provincial and federal environmental regulations.

Environmental Project Coordinator
Job Description
Nor-Alta Environmental Services Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Project Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science and possess excellent analytical skills. This role involves reporting, data analysis, laboratory result interpretation, and milestone and deliverables tracking to support environmental projects. The Project Coordinator will work collaboratively with other professionals to assess environmental conditions and develop strategies for reclamation, remediation, environmental assessments, and drilling waste management projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist with components of project management that include preparing and tracking deliverables, client communication, report preparation, cost tracking, and guidance of junior staff.
- Interpret field notes and laboratory analytical results to assess environmental conditions.
- Collect and interpret laboratory data for various sampling matrices including soil, water, and air.
- Utilize GIS software such as ArcGIS for mapping and spatial analysis.
- Perform research to support environmental assessments and compliance with regulations.
- Develop reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on various environmental projects.
- Maintain accurate records of data collection and analysis processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
- Eligibility for or membership with a professional organization (AIA, ASPB, APEGA, etc.) is required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience in planning and reporting British Columbia Stage 1 PSI, Stage 2 PSI, remediation, and reclamation is considered an asset, including CoR Part 1 and 2 submissions using the BC ER eSubmission tool.
- Experience compiling and submitting Phase 1/2s and Record of Site Conditions in the AER’s OneStop is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with the Ecologically Suitable Species Guideline and/or Schedule B reclamation assessments is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) for data visualization and mapping.
- Experience with laboratory data analysis and interpretation is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with field screening techniques and equipment.
- Excellent research skills with the ability to analyze complex datasets effectively.
- Mechanical knowledge related to environmental field equipment is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team across various environmental departments.
Job Location
This position will be based out of St. Albert, Alberta.
Compensation
This is a full-time position starting at $70,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
