Project Description:
Wildlife Deterrent Program Implementation and Avian Migration Study
Location:
Fort McMurray AB (Oil Sands Mine Project)
Vertical:
Oil Exploration, SAGD Operations
Nor-Alta’s scope:
- Design and implement a bird deterrent system using a combination of deterrent devices; and (2) Evaluate the effectiveness of said bird deterrent system while investigating potential avenues of improvement
- Finalize bird monitoring and nest sweep protocols and schedules specific to the site
- Identify optimal bird monitoring stations and nest sweep transects
- Develop project specific field data forms and electronic database for recording data in the field as well as data collection for final analyses
- Track all avian sightings across the site and conduct monitoring surveys to produce avian migration study for the project
